Ms. Anjali Wells, Art Teacher email
Ms. Wells received her Bachelors in Studio Art from the University of Maryland in 2011 and a Masters in Art Education from University of Maryland in 2013. She has been teaching in MCPS since 2013 and is thrilled to be working at her former school of Briggs Chaney Middle School. Ms. Wells finished her post graduate certificate through McDaniel College in Equity and Excellence in Education and looks forward to continuing her Equity journey in MCPS.
Ms. Megan Fitzharris, Choral Director - email
This will be Megan Fitzharris's sixteenth year teaching middle school choral music. Previously, she taught choral and general music in public schools in Massachusetts for 12 years and at the Maret School in Washington, D.C. for the past 3 years. Ensembles under her direction have received the highest awards given at the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association festivals and the Great East Festival. Her middle school choruses have been selected to perform at the White House, the Massachusetts Music Educators Association All State Conference, and Symphony Hall in Boston as well as other venues.
Megan has conducted middle school choral festivals in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She has also led workshops on the music of West Africa and middle school choral techniques. She is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association and is the co-coordinator for the Voices United Honor Chorus. Megan received her Bachelors of Arts in Music from Salisbury University and her Masters of Music Education from Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts.
Outside of music, Megan loves to spend time with her family. She really enjoys reading and being outdoors, especially hiking and kayaking. And, happy when traveling and exploring new things, she has traveled to multiple countries in Europe, Costa Rica, Morocco, and Ghana.
Mr. Raymond Chaney, Band and Orchestra - email
Mr. Chaney has been teaching at Briggs Chaney Middle School for fourteen years. Before coming to BCMS, Mr. Chaney was a high school band director in Washington County, Maryland for eight years. Mr. Chaney earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Shepherd University, and a Master of Music Degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. Bands and orchestras have consistently received high ratings at district and state music festivals under Mr. Chaney's direction. Many of his students have been selected into honors and all-state ensembles, and several have become music performers and educators themselves.
