The Employee and Retiree Service Center (ERSC) conducts Understanding Your Retirement Informational Sessions for employees who are considering retirement within the next two years. Topics for each informational session include a timeline for retirement, eligibility, benefit formulas, leave, post-retirement health and life insurance, taxes, and forms. ERSC staff are available at the sessions to answer questions and assist members with the retirement process.
To attend an Informational Session, you will need to register for course number 91977 at Professional Development Online (PDO).
Be sure to log in to and visit PenPoint, a self-service retirement system for MCPS employees, where you can determine your pension plan membership prior to attending a Retirement Information Session. In addition, you may find it helpful to review Understanding Your Retirement, a booklet that will guide your through the retirement process.
After attending one of ERSC's informational sessions and downloading your retirement forms, you may want to attend an ERSC Retirement Forms Workshop. During these workshops, ERSC staff members present all required retirement forms, explain how to complete them, and answer questions. If you are retiring within the next year, you are encouraged to attend a Forms Workshop. You need to attend an Informational Session prior to attending a Forms Workshop.
