2010-2019
This decade ushered in the age of 21st century learners. The Common Core State Standards and Curriculum 2.0 shifted the focus on developing students that are both academically and socially competent. Technology became integrated into the classroom with Google Chromebooks, Promethean Boards, and computer based assessments (PARCC, MAP-Math and MAP-Reading).
The school saw the departure of one principal and the addition of a new one. New school initiatives include the Positive Behaviorial Intervention System (PBIS) and Morning Meeting.
2020- present
This decade was impacted by the effects of COVID, however our school and community remained resilient. The focus on developing students who are academically, socially, and emotionally thriving remains the focus. Although technology became the lifeline for learning during COVID, when in-person instruction resumed in 2021, technology returned to being an instructional support in the classroom.
During December 2021, Woodlin moved to a holding school in Bethesda while waiting on construction of the new Woodlin building. Happily, in January 2023, the new Woodlin opened its doors. The students, community, and staff now have a state of the art 21st centry building with all of the amenities, in an asthetically pleasing space! Robust face-to-face student engagement and student centered instruction is the focus, while technology remains an instructional support using Google Chromebooks, Boxlights, Finch Robots and computer based assessments (MCAP, MISA, MAP-Math and MAP-Reading).
