The National Honor Society (NHS) was established in 1921 to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Academic

    A cumulative 3.6 GPA or 4.1 WGPA. To be inducted as a junior the GPA is through the end of sophomore year and to be inducted as a senior it is through the end of junior year.
  • Community Service

    Minimum of 45 hours. All qualifying hours must be registered with WJ's SLL Coordinator
  • Recommendations

    Teacher and coach/sponsor recommendations must attest to student character and leadership as well as academic excellence.

Service

To fulfill the Service requirement of NHS all members participate in a major community service project each semester. Students who are inducted into NHS in their Junior year are also required to help plan the WJ New Student Picnic and attend this community-building event in August, prior to the beginning of their Senior year.
