    Traditional Events:Purpose: The goal of the French Honor Society is to promote interest in and understanding of the Francophone (French-speaking) world.

    • TUTORING HELP AT LUNCH TIME on Tuesdays and Thursdays (in rm. G09 where "brown bag" study groups ARE encouraged)
    • CAFÉ WJ (learn to cook quiche for a luncheon fund raiser)
    • Selling Concessions (or other fund-raising)
    • Mardi Gras
    • Perform a French play
    • Formal Induction Ceremony (mid May)

    Induction Requirements:

    • Currently be in a French class of level 4 or above
    • Have earned A's in French for the last three full semesters and maintained a 3.0 overall GPA; Native speakers with an A for one semester in AP French are also eligible for nomination, as are students at levels 4 and above with a French GPA of 3.65 in their last 3 semesters provided that they continue to study the language
    • Participate in and assist in FHS-sponsored tutoring, activities and inductions of new members
    • Pledge during the induction ceremony:
      Comme adhérent au chapitre WALTER JOHNSON de la Société Honoraire de Français, je m'engage à me consacrer à l'étude de la langue française avec le but de la maîtriser. En me rendant compte qu'une langue peut servir de lien entre les gens d'origines, de races, et de religions différentes, moi, comme citoyen de mon pays, je promets d'encourager l'amitié et l'entente avec tous les autres pays du monde.

    Requirements for Graduation Honor Cords:

    • Be inducted and participate in inductions;
    • Tutor and earn the required number of activity credits each semester;
    • Stay in French at WJ through the AP level or Senior year;
    • Maintain a 3.0 GPA, with a quarterly average of A or B in French.
