Breakfast update
Important Update Regarding School Breakfast:
We want to share an important administrative update regarding our meal program for the upcoming school year. Takoma Park Elementary School is no longer eligible for the Maryland Meals for Achievement In-Classroom Breakfast Program, for the 2026–2027 school year. MMFA eligibility requires schools to have at least 40% of students qualifying for Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FARMS) as of October 31st of the prior school year, a threshold TPES did not meet.
What this means for your family:
· Breakfast will no longer be free for all enrolled students.
· Breakfast will now transition to standard meal eligibility pricing (free, reduced price, or paid), operating the same way lunch currently does.
· Additional details and pricing information will be sent directly from MCPS shortly.
Because of this change, it is imperative that all families complete the FARMS application. Accurate FARMS data ensures your child receives the appropriate meal pricing for both breakfast and lunch, while also helping our school secure vital state and federal funding.
