National Walk and Roll to School Day
Summary
National Walk and Roll to School Day is Wednesday, October 9, 2024. This day is dedicated to expanding safe routes to schools and is directly related to Montgomery County’s Vision Zero goals to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries. It also creates sustainable and healthy habits among our youngest transportation users and their families, building more environmentally conscious communities for a healthy planet.
Background
The Partnership for a Walkable America started National Walk and Roll to School Day in 1997. It is a one-day event on October 9th. Walk and Roll to School Day is an international event that takes place in more than 40 countries worldwide, and the County Council of Montgomery County also has issued a proclamation for this day. Walking and rolling to school helps build community and gives children a strong sense of self-confidence and a better quality of life.
National Walk and Roll to School Day is Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
