RFMS Administration

Principal - Dr. Joey Jones Dr. Jones - Principal

Greetings. My name is Joey N. Jones. I am pleased to serve as principal of Robert Frost Middle School, one of the top middle schools in the nation. I was born in Reidsville, North Carolina. I enjoyed a wonderful childhood along with my parents, three brothers, and two sisters. My wife and I have three young adult girls. We value family, faith, and community. We have a passion for the development and success of people, particularly youth.

I earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in industrial arts/technology education from North Carolina A&T State University. I was fortunate to be awarded an academic fellowship to attend the University of Maryland where I earned a Ph.D. degree in Public School Administration and Supervision. I started my Montgomery County Public Schools career in 1992 as a substitute teacher. Since then, I have enjoyed successful years of service at Sligo Middle School, Thomas Edison High School of Technology, and Rockville High School. I am very excited to be a part of the Robert Frost Middle School community. Finally, in my spare time I enjoy traveling, watching and playing sports, reading, and eating out at nice restaurants. One of my personal quotes is: Leaders are always doing one of two things – getting better or getting behind. Choose to get better.

Assistant Principal - Mrs. Marie Umali Gasaway

M. Umali Gasaway

Hello! My name is Marie Umali Gasaway, and I am excited to serve the Robert Frost Middle School community as Assistant Principal. I have already experienced the warmth and excitement from my new Frost family in just the first couple of weeks as we begin this new school year.

I started thinking about being a teacher in 8th grade when I had an amazing English teacher who sparked a new found love of reading for me. After reading 52 books in 8th grade, I realized how quickly academic growth can be achieved simply by reading. I wanted to share the experience I had with other students. Additionally, I always wanted to coach softball and had to consider what profession would best allow me to do so. I graduated from Gaithersburg High School and went to The University of Maryland earning my B.A. in Secondary English Language Arts Education and English Language and Literature. I taught English at John F. Kennedy High School and then Argyle Magnet Middle School. I am also certified to teach ESOL as I earned a Master Certificate in Bilingual Special Education from The George Washington University. I then continued to serve as the English Resource Teacher at Quince Orchard High School. I was extremely grateful to impact the lives of 150 students a year within my own classroom walls and was guided into thinking about educational leadership as I’d be able to impact more students than just the ones who came into my classroom by supporting staff members. Therefore, I earned my M.S. in Educational Leadership from Hood College. For the last three years, I served the Winston Churchill High School Community as the Assistant Principal and will be entering my 13th year in MCPS at Robert Frost Middle School.

In the role as Assistant Principal, my guiding belief is that all students have strengths that will make them successful after school and our job is to help identify and develop those strengths.

Hello, my name is Dayo Banjo. I have the honor of serving the Robert Frost Middle School community as the Assistant School Administrator. I am learning much about the Frost community and look forward to being a part of this great community of staff, parents, and students.

I am a proud graduate of the University of Maryland College Park (Go TERPS) and earned a B.Sci. in Secondary Mathematics Education. I entered the education system teaching Math in Baltimore County Public School. After two years, I attended Johns Hopkins University and earned my Masters in Educational Studies with a focus on Urban Education. I moved over to Montgomery County Public Schools in 2015 as a Math teacher. It was in MCPS that I explored leadership opportunities and became a Math Resource Teacher. In an interest to become an effective leader, I attended Hood College and earned a certificate in Educational Leadership. I'm happy to be here at Frost to continue to learn and become an effective leader in MCPS.

I look forward to an amazing school year and getting to know the Frost community better.
