    Newly Updated Student Service Learning (SSL) Forms as of August 2026

    MCPS has updated its Student Service Learning (SSL) forms! Please review the changes, critical dates, and new form links below. 

    Key Form Changes (Forms linked below)

    • MCPS Form 560-51 (Student Service Learning Activity Verification Form) 
        • Organization must provide academic preparation and service action details
        • Provides expanded space for thoughtful student reflection 
    • MCPS Form 560-50 (Individual Student Service Learning Request)
      • Required for students to complete service with any community organization that is not listed as an MCPS SSL organization on the Montgomery County Volunteer Center website (tinyurl.com/SSLOrganizations)  
      • Organization must provide academic preparation and service action details

    Important Dates

    • Effective date: Active immediately
    • Grace period: SSL Coordinators will accept the old SSL forms until September 25, 2026. Any service completed after September 25, 2026, should be documented using the new SSL forms.

    Entered MCPS middle/high school in: Hours needed:
    6th grade 75
    7th grade 65
    8th grade 55
    9th grade 45
    10th grade 35
    11th grade 20
    12th grade 10

    Volunteer Opportunities

    • GHS classes with SSL hours automatically infused into the curriculum
      • National, State, and Local (NSL) Government: 7.5 hours per semester
      • Child Development: 5 hours per semester
      • NJROTC: 5 hours per semester
      • Financial Math: 5 hours per semester

    Turn in completed forms to the SSL trays in the main office.
