Principal Shauntae Spaugh
Welcome to Fallsmead Elementary School! It is an honor and a privilege to lead a school with such a rich history of academic excellence, family engagement, and a dedicated staff committed to the achievement of all students.
With nearly 30 years of experience in the field of education (having started my teaching career in 1999), I earned my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama. Upon graduation, I began my career teaching 6th grade in my hometown (and the school I attended growing up) in Huntsville, Alabama. Looking to further my education, I attended Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, earning a master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Language and Literacy.
My journey with Montgomery County Public Schools began in 2009 after relocating to Maryland. I served as a 5th, 3rd, and 2nd-grade teacher at Harmony Hills Elementary School in Silver Spring and College Gardens Elementary School in Rockville. I earned my administration and supervision certification from Hood College before moving into the role of Staff Development teacher at Kensington Parkwood Elementary School, Assistant Principal at Rock Creek Valley Elementary School, and Principal Intern at Glenallan Elementary School. These experiences have led me to this wonderful opportunity to serve as the proud principal of Fallsmead Elementary School!
On a personal note, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my two daughters, Nia and Ava, and our sweet Maltipoo, Lucy! We enjoy painting, reading, going on walks, baking, dancing, traveling, and attempting challenging puzzles. Writing is a shared interest, and we hope to publish a book together one day. Any adventure with my family brings joy and sunshine my way! I also enjoy watching Alabama football (ROLL TIDE), NFL, and NBA games in my spare time.
Community, equity, service, and relationships are at the core of my leadership, and I look forward to meeting and collaborating with all stakeholders: staff, students, families, and caregivers. I am honored to soar alongside my Falcon family.
Assistant Principal Betty Kim
As a former Emergent Multilingual student who immigrated to New York from Korea at a young age, I am deeply committed to building a welcoming school community where every student can thrive. I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I began my career in education in Wake County Public Schools and joined Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in 2008, where I served as an elementary school teacher, middle school science teacher, team leader, and now assistant principal. I prioritize equity, relationships, accountability, and clear communication in everything that I do.
