We will be celebrating our AP Scholars and National Honor Society Inductees at our Fall Awards Program on Thursday, October 24th, at 1:45-2:30, in the Auditorium. Invitations have been sent for students to bring a guest. We have also posted a listing of all AP Scholars and National Merit Scholars on our Main Office windows for students to check.

Seniors – if you have a November 1st college application deadline, please get your transcript requests in to Mrs. Carey ASAP. Be sure to bring the Authorization to Release Pupil Record signed by your parent AND the completed Senior Information Summary from Naviance.

CAREER CENTER
Today, there will be a college visit from Mount St. Mary’s at 9:30. Tomorrow’s visits include The U.S Marine Corp at 10:00 and Bridgewater College at 1:00. Sign up on Naviance. Turn in your signed your signed permission slip for the college fair on November 19th as soon as possible!

Attention juniors and seniors: are you interested in taking MC classes second semester? If so, please come to an informational meeting today at the beginning of lunch in the career center. The meeting will begin at approximately 11:10. Hope to see you there!

The American Sign Language National Honor Society will meet today in room 204 at the beginning of lunch. This is a mandatory meeting.

The Environmental Club will meet today in room 149 during lunch, beginning at 11:30. Please see Mr. Hyman with question.

Attention Students: The Damascus American Legion is hosting its annual oratorical contest on the Constitution. Prize money has been doubled this year! The student that wins the event will be awarded $1,000. If you are interested in participating, please talk to your social studies teacher. The deadline to register is December 20.

Mr. Hall is starting a boys leadership club this year. All interested freshmen and sophomores please go to room 131 during lunch this week to fill out an application.

MUSIC NEWS
Congratulations to Daniel Wilson for being accepted into the
MCPS Senior Honors Jazz Band.

Rescheduled Music Boosters meeting to be 10/24 @ 7pm in room 115.

SPORTS
Congratulations to the DHS Varsity Cheerleaders for placing 2nd and 1st in their 2 invitationals this past week! Please come out and support them this Saturday, October 26th at Blair High School @ 8:00pm as they strive for their 3rd Consecutive County Championship! Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door, make sure to wear Green & Gold!

Last Saturday, the Cross Country team competed at the Montgomery County Championships, Tamrat Snyder placed 5th and Alexis Whitehorn-Coriz placed 25th. Our Seniors Brian Bowers, Daniel Vela, Zach Sussman, and Logan Harris competed their last meet, you all will be missed!

Personal Records for the 5,000 meters were set by: Emely Vela, Rachel Carr, Molly Smith, Abigail Stroup, Samantha Homich, Alexis Bernal, Tamrat Snyder, Cadem DeValle, Josiah Lim, Colton DeValle, Sam Gottard, Dylan Perera, Colby Cornwell, Justin Pryor, Jeremiah Recinos, Joshua Huang, Brendan DeLauder, Nick Spring, and Sai Divela. Congratulations to all of the runners!

Congratulations to the DHS JV Cheerleaders for receiving the Superior team award at their County Exhibition this past Saturday! All your hard work has paid off and you have made Damascus proud!

Swim and Dive: If you are interested in trying out for the swim and dive team, there will be an informational meeting on Thursday, Oct. 24th at 11:10 AM in the dance studio, Please be prompt.

Are you interested in trying out for DHS winter cheerleading? If so, there will be a mandatory meeting next Wednesday, October 30th in the main gym at the beginning of lunch. We look forward to seeing you there!

Baseball players, Coach Molnar will be leading outside workouts on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 - 3:15 starting this week. Please stop in to Room 11 or check the board outside his room for info.

Don't Forget Our Two Events This Week - We Hope To See You There!

Tonight: PTSA Meeting @ 7pm: Update on Building Improvements at DHS - Join us at the October PTSA meeting tonight in the Media Center to learn about the ongoing and future DHS building improvements from Mr. Seth Adams, Director, MCPS Construction Division and Mr. Jamie Duffy, Project Manager for DHS Building Updates, MCPS Construction Division. We will also be voting on our PTSA budget for the 2019-2020 year.

Wednesday: Spirit Day/Night at Hornet's Nest - All sales, dine-in and carry out from 11 am to closing will earn our PTSA 20% but you must show the attached flyer to your server or the cashier when you are checking out.
