MCPS Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) College Fair

This free in-person event is held at The Universities at Shady Grove will provide students in Grades 8–12 an opportunity to meet representatives from more than 50 HBCUs. Representatives will share information and answer questions from students and parents about admissions, financial aid, testing, majors and much more. The event will also feature a college preparation workshop for middle school students and parents, a discussion on college life, FAFSA completion assistance, scholarship information and more. This event is co-sponsored by Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and the Montgomery County Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

During the HBCU College Fair, students and parents can interact with college admission representatives and attend workshops, including a separate workshop and activities for middle school students. Registration for the HBCU College Fair will open on Friday, December 12, 2025, and can be found on the HBCU College Fair website. We
strongly encourage school counselors and College and Career Navigators (CCNs) to attend HBCU College Fair and
connect with HBCU representatives. We also will provide FAFSA completion support for any Grade12 student seeking assistance. Representatives from the Educational Opportunity Center and Montgomery College's financial aid outreach office will be on-site to help. Please encourage administrators and staff to attend or volunteer to help with this event. Staff at all grade levels are welcome to volunteer. The volunteer registration information is located on the
