BCMS Letter and Spirit Week Information
Good Evening Briggs Chaney Middle School Students and Families,
This week we will launch our first week of online learning! The staff at Briggs Chaney Middle School are so excited to connect with our students and families as we transition to this new way of schooling. As stated in the Superintendent's message to the community, the focus this week will be on the following:
- Reconnecting with students and teachers
- Ensuring students can engage in online lessons and practice interacting with online tools and submitting assignments
- Ensuring staff receive the professional development needed to deliver a quality remote learning experience for students
- Helping families establish home schedules that outline when a student will be engaged in lessons
- Working on assignments to close out Marking Period 3
The staff at Briggs Chaney have really missed the students over these past two weeks. I would like to share a video that we put together for the students and families. Although we have to engage remotely moving forward, we wanted to share how much we miss our community and think of you every day!

In an effort to reconnect with our students, the BCMS counseling department would like to share the message below. They have created resources and activities for students to engage in over the next four weeks. We hope that all students participate in our Virtual Spirit Week March 30-April 3!
Greetings from BCMS School Counselors!
Below is information on how to stay connected with your student's school counselor! Each grade level has a google classroom set up that will be monitored by grade level counselors. If your student has not joined yet, please have them join the classroom according to their current grade (students can enroll using their school MCPS google email):
6th grade: rbfroud
7th Grade: iya3aal
8th Grade: xi6thqo
Please check their google classroom weekly for updates on virtual activities, counseling hours for student supports through google hangouts, and other important information. For the next 4 weeks, we have planned weekly activities for students to participate in virtually! Flyers will be posted on google classrooms and shared via Connect-Ed messages.
We are excited to announce our Virtual Spirit Week March 30th-April 3rd. Attached is the flyer detailing activities for the week. We also encourage students and families to follow our school Instagram page @wearebriggschaney. This account was created to keep BCMS students, staff and families connected. We ask that you please remind your students of appropriate social media posts and language while online. Tag us to your Virtual Spirit Week posts!
