Ms. Lisa Stephen, Bridge Program Coordinator email

Welcome to a new school year! I have spent almost my whole career at Briggs Chaney MS. This is year twenty-six for me at BCMS. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Human Development with a focus on Adolescent Development, and a Certificate in Administration and Supervision. I look forward to working with students, parents, and staff toward maximizing student potential through a focus on rigor, equity, and relationships.

Ms. Ani Aghguiguian, Physical Education/Health email

Hello BCMS! My name is Ani Aghguiguian and I am the Bridge Physical/Health Education teacher. This is my third year teaching PE and Health as well as my third year teaching in the county. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Kinesiology in 2014. I then received my graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction in June of 2016, with a focus on PE. I am also the Bridge PE teacher at Paint Branch High School where I coach Volleyball and Unified Bocce. I am looking forward to having a great year with our students! Go Bears!

Hello Briggs Chaney! This is my second year at BCMS in the Bridge Program and 16th teaching Special Education (9th with MCPS). I hold a Master's Degree in Special Education from Loyola College. I am an avid outdoorsman, I love fishing, sports and my family. I am looking forward to having a great year and working with the students and staff here at Briggs Chaney.

I am happy to say that I have been working at Briggs Chaney Middle School for over 20 years. I am looking forward to a great new school year and our growing Bridge Program. In addition to my role as a para educator I am also the serving as the Bridge Secretary. I grew up in Rockville and attended Montgomery County Public Schools. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Ms. Jamie Cheeks, Social Worker email

Hello and welcome to all of our students and parents of Bridge students attending Briggs Chaney Middle School this school year. I received my B.A. in Social Work from Frostburg State University and my M.S.W. from the University Of Maryland School Of Social Work with a concentration in Children and Families. I have been in the social work field for thirteen years and strive to establish partnerships with students, parents, teachers, and community organizations to support each student’s academic and social/emotional growth. I am also very excited to continue partnering with Therapy Dogs International (TDI) to facilitate a visiting therapy dog program at BCMS this school year!

Mr. David Chrismer, English email

My name is David Chrismer and this is my third year teaching at Briggs Chaney Middle School. This is also my third year in MCPS after spending six years teaching in Baltimore City Public Schools. I am certified in Special Education with additional certifications in Secondary English and History. I have also had experience serving as an IEP Chair and a Transition Monitor. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family & pets, reading, following my Baltimore sports teams, DJ-ing special events for friends, and playing music.

My name is Stephanie Gawlinski. This is my 6th year teaching. Prior to BCMS, I taught in Howard County. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education from Slippery Rock University and a Master's degree in Assistive Technology from Bowling Green State University. I am excited to be a BCMS Bear and part of the Bridge team. I look forward to working with students, parents and staff as partners in learning. We have a year here, let’s make it a great one!

Paul Johnson; MA/CAS, NCSP email

I have worked as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist since 2000. During this time I have worked with students from birth to 21 years of age, but enjoy working most with students in middle school. In addition to assessing students for special education purposes, I enjoy collaborative problem solving, trauma informed care, providing group and direct counseling services, and specializing in working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I also enjoy traveling with my wife and three adolescent children, serving on mission trips, playing tennis with friends, and learning as much as I can about historical events.

My name is Lindsay Jones. I have worked in Montgomery County for seven years and this is my sixth year at Briggs Chaney Middle School. I have my bachelor's degree from Utah State University and a Master's Degree from The George Washington University both in Special Education. I look forward to working with all of my students to make this a successful year for everyone!

Hello everyone my name is Kamal Mayers. I'm excited to be returning for my second year as a Bridge Paraeducator. I'm currently pursuing a Sports Management degree from Ashford University. I enjoy traveling abroad, sports, food and officiating basketball. I have enjoyed supporting the Bridge Program here at Briggs Chaney and look forward to continuing to build great relationships with all students.

My name is Nancy Miller and I'm excited to join The Bridge Team at BCMS as a Paraeducator. This is my 20th year working in MCPS. This is my second year in the Bridge Program at BCMS and I worked 8 years with the Comprehensive Autism Preschool Program. I received a MA in College Student Personnel and a BS in Speech Pathology and Audiology - long ago - but they serve me well working with students. Outside of school I can be seen in Zumba classes, on tennis courts or alpine ski slopes. I love to play in the dirt gardening and landscaping.

My name is Jason Schmorr and I am a Paraeducator at Briggs Chaney Middle School. This is my third year working as a Paraeducator in MCPS. I am originally from Rye, NY. I relocated to Maryland three years ago. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physical Education at St. Andrews Presbyterian University in Laurinburg, NC. I am married to my beautiful wife Jenn, who is an ESOL teacher in MCPS. In my free time, I enjoy sports, traveling, hiking, attending concerts, and spending time with my family.

Hi there! I am a 2011 graduate of Allegheny College where I earned a BA in History and Women's Studies. I am also a self-proclaimed “cat lady” who loves making music and playing the saxophone  This is my 5th year working at MCPS and my 2nd year working in the Bridge Program here at BCMS.

Hello! My name is Heather Strauss and I am the Behavior Support Teacher for Bridge Services at Briggs Chaney Middle School. This is my third year supporting the program. I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Special Education from Bradley University, a Master’s of Arts in Education and Human Development, and an Administration and Supervision Certificate from Hood College. I am excited to be working with students, families and staff again.

HI! Welcome to the Bridge Program. This is my 3rd year in Bridge and at BCMS as a Special Education Para Educator. I've been with Montgomery County Public Schools for almost 10 years. I received my certificate for Human Resources Management from Montgomery College. Outside of school I like to volunteer at Blake High School, coach soccer and go to the beach every chance I get! I'm looking forward to another great year in the Bridge Program.
