Welcome to Piney Branch Elementary School!

Piney Branch Elementary School is a dynamic learning environment where students are challenged, nurtured, and supported to achieve the highest possible standard. Every student is provided with instruction that is differentiated to meet their needs. Staff members collaborate together as a professional learning community and are committed to supporting all our students so that they can achieve at high levels. Parents are encouraged to actively participate in school activities and events.  We attribute much of our success to connections with the community. We invite you to be part of our Piney Branch Family. Together we can make a difference.

Our Interim Principal: Mr. Lee Meiners

 Meiners I

What with the birth of my new son, I will be on family leave until September 30th. I can assure you that everything has been done this summer to ensure a smooth and successful start to the school year.

In my absence, Mr. Lee Meiners will serve as acting principal. He will work closely with our assistant principal, Ms. Orinda Nelson. Mr. Meiners is a retired principal. He began his career in 1974 in Prince George’s County as a special education teacher, and later on an elementary and middle school principal. After coming to Montgomery County Public Schools in 1989, Mr. Meiners served as Principal of Cresthaven ES, Potomac ES, and PINEY BRANCH ES! After retiring in 2005, Mr. Meiners has been serving as acting principal and assistant principal at many of our schools in MCPS when administrators are on leave. Mr. Meiners lives in Silver Spring, and he and his wife have four children. Mr. Meiners is very much looking forward to coming “back home” to Piney Branch during my absence. I feel confident that the school will continue to run smoothly with great progress made by the students under Mr. Meiner’s and Ms. Nelson’s care.

I miss the students and look forward to seeing their bright smiles when I return. I couldn’t be more excited to begin my 15th year with Montgomery County Public Schools, and feel so fortunate to serve you in my role as principal here at Piney Branch.

If you have any questions, please call the school at (301) 891-8000 or contact Mr. Meiners or Ms. Nelson through email. Lee_R_Meiners@mcpsmd.org LOrinda_Nelson@mcpsmd.org

Thank you so much and have a wonderful start to the school year,

 Mrs. DuBois
