Spanish Immersion Program - Middle School Level

Program Description

Students may continue the immersion experience at one of the middle school Foreign Language Immersion Programs. For students coming from elementary French and Spanish immersion programs, a two-period block of instruction enables them to enhance their language development as well as complete the social studies courses in the same language. Students coming from elementary Chinese immersion programs will continue in a one-period language course before transitioning to the regular MCPS Chinese 2 course in Grade 7.

Rolling Terrace Elementary Immersion students interested in continuing the immersion program in middle school feed into Silver Spring International Middle School. Admission to the Foreign Language Immersion Program is for incoming Grade 6 students who complete the corresponding immersion program at the elementary level.

Students who did not participate in the elementary program may test into an immersion program if there is space available. Please contact the local school to find out about the application process and deadlines.
