• Original Construction: 1934 
• Originally built as Blair High School 
• Renovated in 1999 to house Silver Spring International Middle School and Sligo Creek Elementary School  
• Current Enrollment: 837  
• All students take advanced courses in English, Science, and World Studies 
• All 8^th grade students take Algebra or higher

Mr. Mayo’s 8^th  grade Lights, Camera, Media, Literacy! class recently published an original children's book that is now available on Amazon.com.  The project was funded by a mini-grant from the PTSA.  
The book is a collection of original stories with a common theme of transitions. The stories are all inspired by  real life events that the students have experienced themselves. For example, there's a story about a character who experiences his parents getting a divorce. Another story is about a character who deals with immigrating to the United States. One story deals with the loss of a loved one.  

We are selling the book for $15. $3.00 from each sale will go towards supporting our growing media and film program here at SSIMS.
