Mission: The mission of the Walt Whitman Media Center is to offer quality collections, technology resources, and integration of information literacy skills in all instruction and research so that students are encouraged to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners. We seek to provide a supportive environment which enables all students to uphold their responsibilities with pride, to pursue academic goals with determination, and to achieve success.

Thank you Whitman Education Foundation for the extra afternoon hour to remain open!

The Media Center may be closed occasionally during lunch for class use. Students must bring a pass signed by a teacher or administrator (except during lunch, after school, or when using the media center with their class).

Print Resources:

Print resources include more than 13,000 fiction and nonfiction books, over 20 magazine subscriptions, and 4 daily newspapers. Nearly 1,000 CD's are available to teachers for classroom use. This includes our Cable in the Classroom collection of programs taped from cable TV. Ongoing additions of new materials keep the collection current.

We have 72 student computers in the Media Center for educational use. Students and staff may search the library catalog, online databases, and a variety of online programs and applications. All rules for school computer labs apply to these computers.

Patrons Catalog:

Staff and students can access Destiny from any computer on the school's network, which includes our entire collection of print and non-print resources. The catalog is also accessible remotely.
