Our school is fortunate to receive supplemental funding through Title I, a federal grant program

for schools that serve communities with high numbers of students who are directly certified for

free meals. The federal legislation that establishes Title I regulations is known as the Every Student

that you have the right to request information about the professional licensure qualifications of

your child’s teacher, long-term substitute teacher, or paraeducator.

If you wish to request licensure information about your child’s teacher, paraeducator, or

your student.

What is Restorative Justice?

Restorative Justice (RJ) is a mindset and a philosophy toward school climate andrelationship building in a system. It is a social justice platform that allows students to
  • actively engage and problem solve physical, psychological, social, and disciplinary issues that affect their lives and the community at large; and
  • take responsibility for their actions and work with those affected to restore the community and members who were harmed because of those actions.
While Montgomery County Public Schools committed to becoming a Restorative
Justice District starting in the 2021 - 2022 School Year. For the past three years, White Oak Middle School has worked to foster the physical, social, psychological, and academic well-being of students, staff, and caregivers through the principles of Restorative Justice: Building Community, Self-Care, and Conflict Resolution.

About the Northeast Consortium Cluster

White Oak is one of five middle schools that are a part of the Northeast Consortium. The Northeast Consortium began as a response to student assignment issues. As a result, the three high schools were affiliated into a consortium to serve the attendance and educational interests of all the students populating the northeast area.

How the Consortium Works

A departure from the traditional student assignment practice, student attendance at the three high schools is not restricted by an inflexible boundary. Instead, students and their parents participate in a practice known as "preferred choice" in which each 8th grade student ranks his/her order of preference for a high school from among the three choices. Each of the schools offers an outstanding comprehensive high school program for every student as well as a distinctive "Signature Program". The signature program is a common theme that runs throughout the entire school curriculum, such as technology, sciences, or the arts.  For more information about the Northeast Consortium vist their website at https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/nec/
