What is College Tracks? and What do we Do?

CollegeTracks helps Wheaton juniors and seniors understand their college and career options, identify colleges that fit each student and complete the critical milestones of the college admissions process. CollegeTracks also engages families, advises on college selection decisions, and provides hands-on help with financial aid and scholarship applications to help students avoid onerous debt. Listed below are some of the services we offer, we encourage students and families to visit our office at Wheaton in room 1007.

   Visit the Wheaton CollegeTracks Website!

Test Registration: CollegeTracks is here to help students register for the SAT or ACT.  If a student receives free or reduced lunch they must see Ms. Polischeck for a fee waiver for the test. Students should visit our office if they are interested in participating in ACT Prep classes or to sign up for a test date.

Essays: Struggling with what to write on a college essay? CollegeTracks staff and volunteers are available to help brainstorm ideas and providing editing feedback. Students can drop their essay off at the CollegeTracks office or send a copy to Wheaton@CollegeTracksUSA.org.

Scholarships: Collegetracks works with students to develop a scholarship application list unique to a student’s interests, skills, future plans, and local networks. Students should visit the CollegeTracks office to pick up a copy of the most recent Scholarship Packet and meet with staff. Don’t forget to look at individual college websites to find more scholarships opportunities!

Financial Aid Guidance: CollegeTracks assists students and their families in applying for federal and state financial aid, regardless of citizenship status. All information is kept private. Families are encouraged to make an appointment with a staff member to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Maryland State Financial Aid Application (MSFAA) between October 1 and February 29 each year. Families are also encouraged to schedule a Financial Aid Award Review Meeting. The CollegeTracks Program Director will review in detail each college’s offer, grants, scholarships, loan implications, and next steps so your family can make an information decision before Decision Day on May 1. To schedule an appointment email Wheaton@CollegeTracksUSA.org.
