Welcome to the Media Center!
The mission of the Westbrook Media Center is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all students and staff, to empower students to develop a love of literature.
We teach information literacy, digital citizenship, and critical thinking skills, by promoting the use of technology to ensure that our students are 21st century learners, independent thinkers, and information users. We hope all Westbrook students will develop a love of reading, become critical thinkers, and participate in ethical research.

Welcome to a new year!
For the first marking period, students will be getting used to library routines and checking out books. Students in Kindergarten through 4th grade will be doing an author study and reading stories all by the same author. Fifth grade students will be focusing on Immigrant and Refugee stories, and reading a variety of stories within that topic.
The Hour of Code™
The nationwide Hour of Code™ takes place in December, and all 1st through 5th grade students will have the opportunity to do computer coding during media time.
Starting in November, students work on activities to prepare for the Hour of Code™. Students will practice creating programs to move a sprite towards a goal. They will also be able to see the source code behind some of their favorite web pages, along with the actual code that they write themselves.
If you would like to learn more about the Hour of Code™, here is a short video with more information:
