8/24 Updated Information for Future Events at RPMS

Time is waning and soon we will be opening doors to greet our Dolphin students! YAY! We’re excited to welcome them back into the school building. 

Please see information below regarding updates for future events: 

UPCOMING EVENTS: 

ALERT: Informal Community Reception is Canceled:

  • Aug 25, 2021:  Out of an abundance of caution, and given the circumstances of the current COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County, MCPS has decided to restrict the number of adults in school buildings who are not employees.    Therefore, the informal community reception  scheduled for Wednesday, August 25, 2021, is canceled. Please know that RPMS will continue to find ways to engage with our parent community through creative and innovative ways .

 

Student Orientation:

  • Aug 26, 2021: Orientation for incoming 6th and 7th grade students will be held on Thursday, August 26th from 8:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Buses will run on a normal a.m. schedule (see MCPS transportation website). Upon arrival at Rosa Parks, students will report to the cafeteria and gym to receive their schedules. Then, they will follow their schedule and meet their teachers. Students will be dismissed from the cafeteria at 12:00 p.m. to walk home, ride the bus, or meet their parents. 
  • There will be an orientation for 8th grade students who are new to Rosa Parks on Thursday, August 26th from 8:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Students will report to the Pinkney-Murkey Media Center where they will receive further instructions.
  • Students should not bring any supplies or their Chromebooks to the orientation.

 

First Day of School:

  • Aug 30, 2021: First day of school. School begins at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Students can enter the building at 7:55 a.m. The school supply list can be found here. 

 

Back to School Night:

Sep 9, 2021: This year’s Back to School Night will be virtual on Thursday, September 9, 2021. The RPMS Back to School Night (BTSN) will be virtual. While we are still working on the schedule of events for a live virtual evening, we will have the RPMS BTSN website which includes teacher videos and information.
