Choice Based Art Education: This year the art room has been transformed into an art studio. Students get to work from a variety of art centers. Studio centers, similar to classroom learning centers, provide access to multiple choices in the art classroom. Students choose their subject matter and media used when creating art. Emphasis is placed on artistic process with three essential goals: student independence, acquisition of artistic behavior, and the generation of ideas. Instruction varies from whole and small group demonstrations to individual and peer coaching. I have enjoyed this adventure and love watching the students create. I look forward to how our art studio evolves over the next several years.
The students are invested in their projects. They enjoy having more opportunities and choices. They like how all the projects are different and they feel they are able to be more creative. And they love sharing and talking about their creations.

We are always looking for fun things that we can use in the art room. Please collect and send in items.
- Old cds
- Paper towel rolls
- Ribbon, yarn, beads
- Old craft supplies
- Wire
- Small boxes (toothpaste, butter, jello)
- Bottle caps
- Corks
- Scrapbook paper
- Shiny paper
- Fabric/ sewing supplies
- And any other fun items we can turn into art.
