About Our Kindergarten Teachers

Ms. Kristen Friedland

Hi, my name is Kristen Friedland, and I am so excited to join the amazing kindergarten team at Great Seneca Creek Elementary! I most recently taught at Ritchie Park in Rockville for 16 years, where I taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. I grew up in southern New Jersey (near Atlantic City) and love to visit my family who still live in that area. I went to the University of Maryland and have been living in Maryland ever since my college graduation. I love spending time with my family and friends, including my three Godchildren (ages 11, 12, and 19) and my nephew (age 19). I love reading, movies, walking, yoga, going to the beach and pool, and traveling! I am looking forward to a spectacular year in kindergarten!

Ms. Kristin Berney

I am entering my 14th year of teaching, all of which have been in Kindergarten. I was born and raised in Montgomery County. I attended all MCPS schools. I went on to earn my Bachelors degree and Masters degree from the University of Maryland. I am the proud mom of three! We enjoy playing outside and reading books. I love to visit the beach, watch football, and spend time with family! I also love all things Disney and my favorite Disney character is Moana! I'm excited for a great school year!

Ms. Becca Redman

Some of my favorite things to do when I am not here at school include: swimming, golfing, walking my dog Pickles, and reading. I also love to paper craft. Looking forward to a great year!!

Ms. Kendra Wiand

I earned my Bachelor's degree from University of Maryland, and my Master's degree from Hood College. I have two wonderful pets: a golden retriever (Hazel) and a cat (Bean). I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, listening to Taylor Swift, drinking coffee, shopping at Target, and of course teaching Kindergarten! Looking forward to a great school year!
