About Our First Grade Teachers

Ms. Shannon Carneal 

Hi! I'm Ms. Carneal. I have taught 3rd grade and 1st grade at GSCES. Outside of school, I enjoy playing with my dogs, attending sporting events (most likely baseball), or spending time with my family & friends. I hope to learn and grow with my students this year, and I'm looking forward to all our new adventures!

Ms. Kristen Friedland

Hi, my name is Kristen Friedland, and I am so excited to teach first grade at Great Seneca Creek Elementary! I look forward to joining the amazing first grade team!! Though I grew up in southern New Jersey, I went to the University of Maryland and have been living in Maryland ever since my college graduation. I have been teaching in Montgomery County since 2001, and I have experience teaching kindergarten, first grade, and second grade in the county. My parents, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew (and his future wife that he is marrying this September) still live in NJ, and I love visiting them, especially during the summer when you can visit the beach and boardwalk. I love reading, movies, walking, yoga, going to the beach and pool, spending time with friends and family, and traveling! I am looking forward to a fantastic year at The Creek!

Hi Bullfrogs! My name is Ms. Yuen. This is my first year at Great Seneca Creek ES and my first year teaching! I graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education. When I’m not at school you can find me going to concerts, reading, or playing with my cats, Olive and Finn. I am looking forward to an amazing school year!

Ms. Megan White

Hi Bullfrogs! My name is Mrs. White, and I am extremely excited to be your child’s teacher! I have been at the Creek for over 10 years and have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade! I graduated from Shippensburg University with a BS in Elementary Education and received my Masters in Special Education from Towson University. In my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring! I look forward to helping your child learn, grow, and be the best they can be.
