Dear Flower Hill Elementary School Students, Families, and Staff,

It is with great excitement that I share that I have been appointed as the Principal of Flower Hill Elementary School (FHES). Over the past several weeks, I have had the opportunity to begin getting to know the dedicated staff and supportive families who make Flower Hill such a special place. From the moment I arrived at Flower Hill, I was struck by the strong sense of community that exists here. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve alongside you as principal.

Throughout my career in Montgomery County Public Schools, I have served as a teacher, consulting teacher, professional learning facilitator, assistant principal, and acting principal. Each of these experiences has strengthened my belief that exceptional schools are built through strong relationships, high expectations, meaningful collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring that every student has what they need to thrive. As principal, I am committed to ensuring that Flower Hill is a place where students are known, valued, challenged, and supported to reach their highest potential.

As I have listened and learned during my time as Acting Principal, I have also begun to develop a deeper understanding of Flower Hill's strengths, opportunities, and hopes for the future. I look forward to building upon the strong foundation that already exists while working alongside our staff, students, and families to determine where we can grow even stronger. Together, we will continue to strengthen teaching and learning, create safe and supportive environments for every child, and nurture the FHES school community characterized by belonging and excellence.

On a personal note, my husband and I live in Columbia, MD, with our eight-year-old daughter, Bria, five-year-old son, Kasen, and Australian Shepherd, Alaska. Being both an educator and a parent deeply influences the way I approach this work. I understand the tremendous trust families place in us each day, and I want every child at Flower Hill to experience the same care, high expectations, opportunities, and sense of belonging that I desire for my own children.

To celebrate this transition and kick off the new school year together, I would love the opportunity to connect with you. We will be hosting meet-and-greet sessions on the following dates:
● Wednesday, August 26, 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria
● Thursday, September 3, 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the Cafeteria

Thank you for your warm support, collaboration, and trust during my time as acting principal, and for welcoming me into this official role. I look forward to the year ahead and cannot wait to see our students fill our hallways again very soon!

Estimados estudiantes, familias y personal de la Escuela Primaria Flower Hill:

Me da mucha alegría compartir con ustedes que he sido nombrada directora de la Escuela Primaria Flower Hill (FHES). Durante las últimas semanas, he tenido la oportunidad de comenzar a conocer al dedicado personal y a las familias que brindan su apoyo y que hacen de Flower Hill un lugar tan especial. Desde el momento en que llegué a Flower Hill, me impresionó el fuerte sentido de comunidad que existe aquí. Me siento muy honrada de tener la oportunidad de servir junto a ustedes como directora.

A lo largo de mi carrera en las Escuelas Públicas del Condado de Montgomery, he trabajado como maestra, maestra consultora, facilitadora de aprendizaje profesional, subdirectora y directora interina. Cada una de estas experiencias ha fortalecido mi convicción de que las escuelas excelentes se construyen a través de relaciones sólidas, expectativas altas, colaboración significativa y un compromiso constante de asegurar que cada estudiante tenga lo que necesita para crecer y tener éxito. Como directora, estoy comprometida a asegurar que Flower Hill sea un lugar donde cada estudiante sea conocido, valorado, motivado para superarse y apoyado para alcanzar su máximo potencial.

Durante mi tiempo como directora interina, he escuchado y aprendido mucho, y también he comenzado a comprender mejor las fortalezas de Flower Hill, nuestras oportunidades de crecimiento y nuestras esperanzas para el futuro. Espero continuar construyendo sobre la sólida base que ya existe, mientras trabajo junto con nuestro personal, estudiantes y familias para identificar las áreas en las que podemos seguir mejorando. Juntos, continuaremos fortaleciendo la enseñanza y el aprendizaje, creando ambientes seguros y acogedores para cada niño y fortaleciendo la comunidad escolar de FHES, basada en el sentido de pertenencia y la excelencia.

En cuanto a mi vida personal, mi esposo y yo vivimos en Columbia, Maryland, con nuestra hija de ocho años, Bria; nuestro hijo de cinco años, Kasen; y nuestro pastor australiano, Alaska. Ser educadora y también madre influye profundamente en la manera en que realizo este trabajo. Entiendo la gran confianza que las familias depositan en nosotros cada día, y quiero que cada niño de Flower Hill reciba el mismo cuidado, las mismas altas expectativas, oportunidades y sentido de pertenencia que deseo para mis propios hijos.

Para celebrar este cambio y comenzar juntos el nuevo año escolar, me encantaría tener la oportunidad de conocerlos y conversar con ustedes. Tendremos sesiones para conocernos en las siguientes fechas:

Gracias por el apoyo, la colaboración y la confianza que me han brindado durante mi tiempo como directora interina, y por darme la bienvenida a mi nuevo puesto como directora. Espero con entusiasmo el año que tenemos por delante y estoy deseando volver a ver muy pronto a nuestros estudiantes llenando los pasillos de nuestra escuela.
