Dear Flower Hill Elementary School Staff and Community, I am writing to share an update on the principal hiring process for Flower Hill Elementary School. It is my pleasure to begin working with you throughout the search and selection process to identify characteristics that you seek in the next principal, as well as your priorities for Flower Hill Elementary School. The principal selection process has multiple components, including the opportunity for staff and families to provide input through their participation in community meetings and/or serving as members of the interview panel, as well as the characteristics and priority survey. I will meet with Flower Hill Elementary School families and staff on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, to discuss the process of filling this important role. The staff meeting will occur in person at 3:30 p.m. in the Media Center and the community meeting will occur at 6:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Each meeting will also have a Zoom option. Interpretation services will be provided in Spanish. This meeting will provide participants with a brief overview of the hiring process for principals in MCPS, an opportunity to develop an understanding of the standards that MCPS uses to determine the effectiveness of principals, and a chance to share their school priorities and the characteristics of the next leader of Flower Hill Elementary School. The information gathered during these meetings will be synthesized into key themes, which will help guide the selection of prospective candidates and the development of interview questions.

Community feedback will also be collected through a survey tool. The survey links are provided below. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you are still encouraged to complete the survey using the links below. The survey is available now and will close on Wednesday, August 6, 2026. At the end of the survey, you will be asked to share your interest in serving on the community interview panel.

Estimado personal y comunidad de la Escuela Primaria Flower Hill: Les escribo para compartir una actualización sobre el proceso de selección del próximo director o directora de la Escuela Primaria Flower Hill. Es un placer comenzar a trabajar con ustedes durante el proceso de búsqueda y selección para identificar las características que desean en el próximo director o directora, así como las prioridades que tienen para la Escuela Primaria Flower Hill.
