Dear Flower Hill Students and Families:

I want to take this opportunity to welcome all students and parents to the 2018/2019 school year. The beginning of a new school year is always a very exciting time for students, parents and staff. A new school year marks the beginning of a journey that will allow all of our students to maximize their learning potential, both academically and social/emotionally. The Flower Hill staff is totally invested and committed to making the 18/19 school year THE BEST EVER for each of our students. The Flower Hill staff will establish and maintain a positive and structured school environment built around academic growth for all students.  As we near the first day of school I want to encourage all parents to talk to your children about the importance of having a Growth “Mind-Set” about their ability to “GET SMART”.  This growth mind-set is based on the belief that with effective instruction and sustained effort EVERY STUDENT CAN GET SMART!!  Every teacher at Flower Hill believes that intelligence is not fixed at birth.  Every student can change and grow in all subject areas with effective effort and hard work.

My staff and I are very excited about the 2018-19 school year.  I have a number of new teachers that are joining the Flower Hill staff this school year and some that have moved on for various reasons.

A Message from our new Assistant Principal, Jessica Dancer:

I am excited to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal at Flower Hill Elementary School.  My name is Jessica Dancer and I am so glad to be joining the Falcon family.  I have had a love for teaching since I was in elementary school.  I have been a teacher in Montgomery County for 12 years.  I have taught grades third through fifth, for the past five years I have been at Lake Seneca Elementary as the math focus teacher.  Being a math focus teacher I taught compacted math and worked with students in Pre-K through fifth grade.

A little about me:  I was raised in Damascus Maryland and currently live in Mt. Airy with my husband, 4-year-old daughter, 7-month old son and dogs.  Both my kids and dogs keep life interesting and busy, however I try to always find time to bake and shop!

I graduated from University of Maryland in 2006 with a degree in elementary education and an emphasis in mathematics.  I earned my masters in educational leadership from Hood College in 2017.

I am excited to meet everyone and start the school year with you!
