Calling All Kindergarten Parents!!!!
The PTA sponsors the Read to Me Talk With Me program. It is a reading program that exposes your child to great pieces of literature and allows you to read and then participate in an activity with your child. Your child will bring home a new book every other week, but to make this program work parent volunteers are needed for every kindergarten classroom. Please contact Jennifer Halper at jhalper0923@gmail.com if you are interested in working on this program with your classroom teacher. Remember it is a biweekly commitment to help the students choose a book and then record the child's selection. If you can't commit to biweekly grab a friend and share the responsibility. An informational meeting will be held towards the end of September with the program beginning the second week in October and ending the final week in May.
We need your help transforming our Staff Lounge from drab to FAB! If you have a couch, side table, coffee table and/or comfy chairs you're willing to donate... Or you would like to donate paint, supplies, and/or your time painting and decorating- email Crista Oehler, Staff Lounge Redecorating Committee Chair at cristaoehler@verizon.net
Let's give our staff a place to relax, they've earned it!

It is a great way to spend time with your daughter and get to know her classmates. No experience is needed – just a desire to help girls can courage, confidence & character while having fun!

In honor of College Gardens retired principal, Mr. Frick, the College Gardens PTA maintains funds for students that may not be able to participate in some of the wonderful before or after school activities because of an economic hardship. If you are in this situation, please contact the school counselor or teacher so your child can participate.

If you cane help set up for this event, please contact Jen Green at: hahleewude@verizon.net
Did you clip and collect your Box Tops all summer? Be sure to continue to help your school earn easy money by clipping Box Tops for Education by bringing them into school. College Gardens receives 10 cents for every box top we turn in for this program, and last year we earned over $1000! Thanks to everyone who helped us achieve this big goal!
There is a complete listing of box tops products on the PTA website or you can visit www.boxtops4education.com. The program includes products like Ziploc bags, Cheerios, El Paso taco products, Hamburger Helper, Hefty products, Gogurt, Pillsbury & the list goes on. You can also register with this website and learn of other no cost ways to raise funds for College Gardens.
Office Depot gives 5% back to CGES
Office Depot is giving schools 5% of what each customer spends on school supplies if the customer asks it to be credited to the school. College Gardens is now listed on the display (written in), so be sure they entered the code for CGES (70047229) at the register. CGES can earn money for school supplies or cash back.
Along with collecting Box Tops, the PTA will also be participating in the Labels for Education program. Basically CGES earns points (which turns in free "stuff") by parents clipping UPC codes and bottle caps. To view a list of participating items, go to: http://www.labelsforeducation.com/Earn/participating-products.aspx. There are thousands of products that we can turn into "stuff" for our school. Examples: BIC (pens), Campbell's soup, Glad products, Pop Secret, Dannon kids yogurt, Time magazines, and V8 beverages to name a few.
So before you throw that UPC into the trash, double check because you could be throwing away $$$$. Simply collect the UPCs and when your "bag" is full, turn them into your classroom teacher. For questions or to help, contact our Labels for Education Coordinator Sylva Kholanian-Faul at sylvakf@gmail.com.
