Creative Adventures is back for a second session! This six-week unique art program for first through fifth graders will feature the following projects: collage, bookmaking, watercolors, painting on canvas, "how things work," and wire sculptures. The class will meet on Mondays from 3:30 to 5 (there was a typo in the flyer that was sent home: the class starts at 3:30, not 3pm), starting March 7th. Please email Julie Lewis at Julakiva@hotmail.com for more information. Click here for the flyer.
College Gardens is hosting our annual Chinese Immersion Open House on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 9:30 in the APR. If your family is interested in our program and the application process, please join us for a presentation and brief school tour. Childcare is not provided.

Please be a reader at our annual READ ACROSS AMERICA celebration: Wednesday, March 2, 2011, 9:30 - 10:30.
To incorporate our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme theme, "Where We Are in Place and Time", readers are encouraged to make personal connections to the book they read and talk about a place they have traveled to or lived in the world. In the past, students have enjoyed hearing stories read in other languages and learning about other cultures. If you know another language, please share this with our students. You are welcome to read the book in English and then share in another language as you feel comfortable. This is a great way to demonstrate the IB learner profile attribute of Communicator. A variety of books will be provided by our award-winning Media Center.
A small reception will follow to recognize all our volunteer readers!
Please RSVP to Anne Marie Foerster Luu at foerstea@gmail.com by Friday, February 18th. Your participation in this special event is a gift to our students.
CULTURAL HERITAGE NIGHT (CHN) - March 25, 2011
The popular CGES Cultural Heritage Night is back! On March 25, 2011 - Come celebrate your culture and enjoy the flavor of other cultures! For more details, please click here: page 1, page 2.
The CGES PTA has formed a Yahoo group to enable parents and faculty to communicate with each other regarding important school issues. This group does not replace the Wednesday CGES Weekly News Flash or the Friday Updates from the Principal. You should still rely on those forms of communication for official messages and announcements from the PTA and our Principal, Mr. Ewald.
The Yahoo group is intended to allow two-way communication for comments and concerns of parents and staff. It will enable us to send timely reminders of school events and activities as well as other information. Membership is open to CGES families and CGES staff. In order to participate you must join by sending an e-mail to CGES_PTA-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. Please include your name and the name of your child(ren).
Once your request for membership is approved you will be sent the guidelines of the group which specify the types of messages that are allowed and not allowed or you can click here to review the guidelines.
If you have any questions please contact Nancy Paul (Nancy@BullseyeCoaching.com) or Audrey Romano (abromano@gmail.com).
