The MCPS attendance policy regarding partial absences specifies that if children arrive at school more than two hours after the start of the day, they are marked “A.M. Absent.” Should a student leave more than two hours before the end of the day, it is “P.M. Absent.” Any absence longer than four hours is entered as absent all day. Finally, if a child is gone for more than two hours during the course of the day, that is also considered a partial absence. Please keep this in mind as you plan any appointments during the school day, and please notify the office of the reason for the absence. Remember that any child arriving late must be signed in at the office by an adult.
Burning Tree is proud to be a part of such an active and involved community. Many of our Burning Tree parents are members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).
PTA Membership is available to parents and guardians of any student enrolled in the school, administration & staff, as well as any community members concerned about local education.
Membership dues support educational programs for our children such as Science Fair and cultural arts programs. They also support fun events for the entire family such as International Night and Spring Fair. Each membership comes with a free copy of the BT Directory and Handbook, and members are entitled to vote on BTES PTA policies and other PTA matters. (Taken from the new PTA website.)
