Example Use of Emergency Alert Module: School Closure
"Due to a major water leak in the main school building, the schoo will be CLOSED today. Please do not report to school today."
Each school can post individual alert messages, with options to schedule them in advance or set an expiration date. Use this module for emergency notifications—such as closures or safety alerts—as well as important events, reminders, or school-specific updates.
Understanding Your Homepage Layout and Modules
The homepage of your site differs from other pages. Some content is automated and pulled from various sources. For example, the "School Information" box (including the principal's name) is updated through the staff directory. Upcoming Events are pulled from your calendar page.
Modules like News and Upcoming Events are edited through the Navigation pane, while Quick Links can only be edited directly on the homepage.
News and Announcements
The News and Announcements module is managed through the Navigation pane. News items can be scheduled to appear on a future date or set to expire and be removed automatically. Each item includes a title that links to a detailed news page, where you can add more information, images, and documents.
Optional Modules to Enhance Your Website
Video Module: Share YouTube or Uploaded Videos
The video module allows schools to easily share videos by adding a YouTube video ID or uploading a video directly to the website. This tool is ideal for posting announcements, event highlights, or educational content.
Google Map block
The Google Map block displays a map that visitors can click to open in Google Maps for directions, downloading, or sharing. Use it anywhere on your website to link to school events, such as on the detailed news page.
Upcoming Events
This section pulls data from the Calendar page. Once new events are added to the calendar, they will automatically appear here. Federal and State holidays, along with all calendar events, have already been entered by Web Services. Your school can also add its specific events.
A Typical Use of This Section
In this example, a new HTML block is added to the right-side column. An image is uploaded to the Assets folder and inserted into the block. The image is then linked to external content, creating a custom school badge tailored to your school's needs.
