Westland Middle School Physical Education and Health

The head of Westland's Physical Education and Health Department is Dave Obstgarten.

Westland's Athletic Director is Tim Crane.

Intrascholastic Sports

Westland's interscholastic sports teams are open to all 7th and 8th graders who meet MCPS eligiblity requirements. Practices take place after school and the sports bus leaves Westland at 4:30pm. Its route depends on where the participants need to be dropped off, but there is only one bus, so it can take a while.

To try out for any school team, students MUST have the following two forms completed, signed and on-file at the school:

MCPS Medical Card for Athlete

MCPS- Health Inventory

In addition, the Montgomery County Board of Education requires payment of a $30 Extracurricular Activity (ECA) fee for all middle or high school students to participate in extracurricular activities for the 2011-2012 school year. All middle and high school students who voluntarily participate in sports or clubs pay the ECA fee.

NOTE: Students may try out for sports teams before paying the fee. However, once they have been selected for a team or activity, the fee must be paid or the selection will be revoked. Paying the fee does not guarantee that a student will be selected for a team or activity, nor does it supersede academic eligibility requirements.
