Check-Out Procedures
Parents, students, and community members are welcome to check out books from the SKES Media Center.
Parents and Community Members
Parents and community members may visit the Media Center and check out books any time during Media Center hours. If an adult is interested in checking out books, he/she just needs to tell the Media Center staff so they can add that person to the circulation system.
Students
As long as the students do not have any overdue books, they may check out the following number of books:
Kindergarteners - 1 book
First and Second Graders - 2 books
Third, Fourth, and Fifth Graders - 3 books
Students in Pre-K, Head Start, and Autism check out books that stay in the classroom only (they do not take library books home).
Books are checked out for two weeks at a time.
3rd, 4th, and 5th graders may check out one magazine at a time. Magazines are checked out for one week and are included as part of the total items allowed to be checked out.
Students in all grades can come in at any time during the school day to return, renew, or check out materials as long as they have permission from their classroom teacher.
Kindergarten and First Grade classes do visit the Media Center once a week for a lesson and to exchange books.
Overdue/Lost Book Policy
If students have overdue books, they may not check out any more items from the Media Center until those overdue items are returned.
Students, parents, and community members are not charged fines for overdue books.
If a student, parent, or community member loses a book or magazine, they are responsible for paying for that book before check-out privileges resume.
