Spring Sports Parent Info Night
Thursday, February 18, 2016 6:30 – 7:30 PM in the auditorium
All parents who have a child trying out for a spring sports team should attend this informational meeting. This meeting will have information about the upcoming season as well as a meet & greet with sport specific coaches.

6:30 – 7:00 PM - General session in the auditorium
7:00 – 7:30 PM - Sport specific meetings in classrooms

Winter Sports Awards Night
Thursday, February 25, 2016 - 6:30 – 8:30 PM
Winter sports athletes and families, please plan on attending our Winter Sports Awards Ceremony. Student-athletes should dress to impress. 

6:30 – 7:00 PM - We will have pizza, snacks and light refreshments
7:00 – 8:00 PM - Awards ceremony in the auditorium
8:00 – 8:30 PM - Sport specific breakout sessions in classrooms

Let It Snow Dance

Let It Snow Winter Formal Dance tickets go on sale February 1st and end February 19th. Tickets are $15. Obligations must be settled before ticket purchase. Guest forms are available in the Main Office and on the SGA bulletin board in the cafeteria. Payments for book or uniform obligations for the purchase of dance tickets are non-refundable. If you are in dispute of an obligation, you must see the staff member who wrote the obligation.

Thomas Edison Open House

The new date for the Winter Open House at Thomas Edison High School of Technology is Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 5 - 8 pm. Thomas Edison is the only non‐comprehensive high school offering students from all MCPS high schools Career & Technical Education programs. Reservations are not required. When: Pick Up Saturday, April 9,2016 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM @ Northwood High School near football stadium. Delivery Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

School Board Candidates Forum

The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County and the Montgomery County Council of PTAs will present a School Board Candidates Forum on Monday, February 29 from 6:30 - 8:30. The forum will be taped by Channel 21.

Dr. Jack Smith Conditionally Appointed as Next Superintendent of MCPS

The Montgomery County Board of Education conditionally selected Dr. Jack R. Smith as the next Superintendent of Schools for MCPS. Pending approval from the state, Dr. Smith will begin his tenure on July 1, 2016.

After Prom Fundraiser At Chipotle

The PTSA is hosting a fundraiser at Chipotle in Wheaton Mall to support the 2016 After Prom on Monday, February 22, 2016.

Upcoming Parent Academy Workshops

Parent Academy workshops give parents tips and tools to help their children succeed in school. The workshops are free and held at schools and locations throughout Montgomery County.

HBCU 8th Annual College Fair

High school students and parents are encouraged to attend the Historically Black Colleges and Universities 8th Annual College Fair on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Paint Branch High School from 6 - 8 p.m. On-site admissions interviews for seniors will begin at 5 p.m. 

7th Annual Choose Respect Montgomery Healthy Teen Dating Conference and Video Contest

The 7th Annual Choose Respect Montgomery Healthy Teen Dating Conference will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016. Students are also invited to create Public Service Announcement (PSA) to promote awareness of dating abuse and domestic violence. The submission deadline is Friday, February 19, 2016.

College Goal Maryland

The event on February 11, 2016 is designed to help students and parents complete the FAFSA.

After Prom Fundraising Announcement

Northwood PTSA has enrolled in the SCRIP program to raise funds for the After Prom party. The SCRIP program has hundreds of gift cards that may be purchased from companies such as Chipotle, Starbucks, LLBean, Giant, Safeway, Walmart, Target, Shell, TJ Max, Cabela's, Home Depot, Panera and many more.
