IMMINENT DISSOLUTION OF NHS ATHLETIC BOOSTERS
Attention, all NHS athletes and their families:
The present leadership of the NHS Athletic Boosters regrets to announce that unless volunteers step forward, the Boosters may dissolve effective June 12, 2013.
Northwood High School has 26 sports teams and hundreds of student athletes. Last year the Athletic Boosters, which is not a separate entity but a club of Northwood High School, had a skeleton membership of ten people, and this year we had only six. Those few people, with only occasional help from others, supplied and staffed the concession stands to raise funds during home games, organized award ceremonies for each sports season, offered coach prizes for the best sports website, ran the annual Gladiator Cup student–faculty basketball game, organized the annual mulch sale fundraiser, and offered our graduating seniors and their families a catered Senior Sports Banquet. In addition we made partial payment on our stadium light bill, and donated money to the NHS Athletic Department.
We need a President, a Vice President, and a Secretary. If others step forward, our present Treasurer and Concessions Chair will remain for the next school year. We need volunteers to organize our award ceremonies and fundraisers, and to help with the concession stand. If you are willing to take on one of these positions, please call Beverly Johnson at 301-593-5515 or Valerie Hennessey at 301-587-1830.
The last meeting of the year is June 12, 2013 at 7 PM in the Media Center. By then we will have paid for the Senior Sports Banquet, our last event of the year. If no volunteers step forward, we may dispose of any remaining monies and vote to dissolve the Northwood High School Athletic Boosters.
Beverly Johnson, President
Q Leeks, Vice President
Linda Campo, Secretary
Valerie Hennessey, Treasurer
