Today is the last day of the quarter, and homework club will not meet today. Again, there will be no homework club today.

Attention  8th graders:   In just a few short weeks you will be leaving Kingsview and heading off to high school.   As you know, we will have a Promotion Ceremony.  Each year at the Promotion Ceremony, we have one student representative from the 8th grade who will get to deliver a speech to all his/ her fellow students.  Are you interested in being that speaker?  If so, please submit a draft of your speech to Mrs. Pate by Friday May 19th, 2017.  The speeches (with names removed) will be reviewed by a panel of staff and a speaker will be chosen by May 26th, 2017.

Every year, the National Geographic Society hosts a Geography Bee, and thousands of students in grades 4-8 participate.   Kingsview is proud to congratulate 8th grader, Nabhoneel Sil Upadhyay for victory at the state level Geography Bee.

Did you know that today is national student athlete day?  We celebrate students who reach for greatness on the court, on the field, and in the classroom.  Speaking of student athletes:  This is a reminder to soccer team members that there is no Boys or Girls Soccer practice today.

Here are today’s after school activities:

Experimental Garden Club

Intramural basketball for 6th grade boys
Intramural street hockey

It’s that time again.  The following students have flag duty when we return from Spring Break:

Sammy Brown and Terrell Wright

On Tuesday, the girls soccer team put on a dominant performance against Poole winning 4-1.  The defense held strong holding the Poole offense to only 2 shots on the game. The Kingsview offense lit up the scoring with 3 unanswered goals in the first half.  Despite Poole getting one back in the second half, Kingsview iced the game with a fourth and final goal.  The next game will be at home against Hallie Wells after spring break.

The boys soccer steam beat Poolesville 10-0 in their season opener. The boys played a great game with Spiros leading  the scoring line with 5 goals and Kevin, Dilane, Nick, Sebastien and Tinoda each scoring 1. Assists were made by Jesse, Jouse, Kevin, Dilane, Nick,  The defense also had strong performances from Julian, Patrick, Ryan McNeil, and Josh. Goalkeepers, Quinn and Ben each had a shootout and made crucial saves to keep Poolesville from scoring. Way to go, guys!

Don’t forget!  RecXtra X-Stem club is canceled.  SGA will not meet today while Mrs. Moore and student representatives are in Ocean City at the convention.

The following clubs will meet as scheduled:

Intramural basketball for 7/8 Grade Boys

Intramural Street Hockey
