Drama Club Rehearsal/Tech/Performance Upcoming dates from

· Parents will need to be
responsible for picking up the students each day. The GMS play performance
will be Wednesday Jan. 17th at 7 pm. Students will need to
stay after school on show day and we will provide pizza for the cast.
6th Grade Outdoor Education:
6th grade Outdoor Education is coming up at the end of
February. The permission slips were distributed to students and should be
return to Ms. Schwartz, Katherine_A_Schwartz@mcpsmd.org
in the morning in the café. The cost for the trip is $80.00. However, MCPS
provides funding for families who cannot afford to pay for the trip. We want

NAMI Basic Class for Parents:
NAMI Montgomery County is offering a free, 6-session workshop for parents
with children experiencing mental health issues. The NAMI Basics class will
be held at Gaithersburg Middle School on Tuesdays from 6:30 - 9:00 PM
starting Tuesday, January 30th, 2018. This is an extremely
helpful course for parents to learn tools to help best support their child,
including: communication skills, working with the school and other mental
health systems, community resources, and the importance of self-care. This
course covers all mental health disorders, with the exception of Autism

Our school is participating in the Giant A+ School Rewards Program, a
great school fundraising program that runs from October 6, 2017 through March
15, 2018. This is an easy way for you to help our school earn CASH each time

Queer Society Club:
The Queer Society is a new student-run club which utilizes the
collective power of the LGBT+ student body, and has already gotten a major
gay news website unblocked on MCPS servers. The Society's primary goals are
to create an open-minded, bold new dialogue among queer students at GMS,
as well as support individual victims of discrimination and/or harassment
(whether by staff or students). Their first half hour discussion meeting will
be after school on Thursday, January 4th, in Room 701. Founding members Ezra
Kronfeld and Sophia Sutton are happy to answer any questions, and all
information shared in confidence will not be disclosed publicly.
All MCPS students take the MAP-R (Reading) and MAP-M (Math) tests three times
a year. For the winter administration we are using a different schedule to
help facilitate the testing. The students will test during a two-hour block
in the morning to avoid multiple days of testing. The MCPS targets are below.
