General Music News
All grades are learning about holiday music from around the world, as well as Choral and instrumental selections associated with Winter and December holidays (The Nutcracker Suite, The Messiah, Vivaldi’s Winter, etc.)
4th and 5th graders are becoming more familiar with syncopated rhythms and are playing them on classroom drums.
Kindergarten students are learning how symbols represent sounds and silence in music as they clap and say rhythmic patterns using quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests. We continue exploring steady beat through movement and instrument playing.
, About the Music Program
The general music program at Flower Hill ES prepares students to be skilled musicians through the use of the Montgomery County Program of Studies. Students have the opportunity to play, sing, listen to, improvise, and compose music. They also have various chances to express themselves through movement.
