November News
First grade students enjoyed The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle. Inspired by the story and illustrations, the children drew an image of a spider web in finger paint and then printed this image on paper. This type of print is called a monoprint because it is one of a kind and not a series of prints. The students used collage (glued papers) techniques and oil pastel crayons to add colorful paper spiders and other wonderful details. They also viewed the video Eric Carle: Picture Writer to meet the author and illustrator. He talks about his elementary school experiences as a young artist and demonstrates his unique style of making decorated papers.
Please visit school and enjoy the display of this first grade art on the bulletin board by the art room.
