May News
Now that spring break is behind us, it is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of third grade!
In reading, we are studying figurative language and poetry. We are reading and analyzing poems that have alliteration, personification, similes, metaphors, onomatopoeia and more. We are also making individual poetry books of original poems using these and other poetry forms.
We also completed the “Potato Head” biography projects and had many creative and wonderful presentations. We enjoyed seeing the hard work everyone put into their projects.
Thank you for coming to support our school in Student Showcase Night on Thursday May 3rd. We appreciated the turn out. Students got to show their “Potato Head” biography projects, plants, animal research projects, persuasion books, original poetry and create math games to take home.
In writing, we just finished up our persuasion books. Many students came up with some very original ideas. These projects turned out fantastic. We hope you got a chance to see them at the Student Showcase Night.
Our present science unit is Plant Growth and Development. Students have planted their seeds and are currently observing and recording their plant growth.
Please continue to encourage your child to read daily and fill out the yellow journal sheet.
We have MANY talented third graders that are planning to participate in our School Variety Show on Thursday May 31st. Be sure to mark it on your calendar NOW! It promises to be an extremely entertaining evening.
HAPPY SPRING!!!!!!
