This has been another exciting month yet again for the first grade Falcons! All first grade teachers have finished our formal reading assessment. The students’ hard work in reading is showing. We are very proud of our wonderful readers! The students are working to read a level 18/J text by the end of the year. Ask your child what level text they are reading. In reading and writing we are working on writing informative texts and reading informative/explanatory texts. Since we are integrating science and social studies, the students are reading and writing about natural features and geography. We are using nonstandard measurement in math to measure and compare the length of objects. The students would love to show off their measurement vocabulary comparing the lengths of objects at home. Speaking of love, Valentine’s Day is coming soon. Further information is on its way. Remind your child to curl up with a book every night and read and discuss their book with an adult!
