Winter break is a great opportunity to get involved in a service-learning project and earn Student Service Learning hours. Visit the MCPS website to find organizations and events that are already approved for MCPS SSL hours. Also, don’t forget that all service hours performed during the first semester must be turned in to the school’s SSL coordinator no later than Friday, Jan. 5, 2018. The DHS coordinator for SSL hours is Ms. Loulou.

11th and 12th grade students: you can still register for MC classes for the spring semester! DHS is trying to offer Introduction to Business and Speech. We need 10 students in each class for them to run! You can also take classes on MC's campus. See Mrs. Poker for details!
FFA will have a general Meeting, required attendance, today in room 105 at 11:10 AM, see Mrs. Mayhew or President Mallory Anderson if you have questions.
The DHS Hornet Ambassadors will be holding a Toy for Tots drive next week, December 11th-15th. Please bring in new and unwrapped toys to be donated to our local children’s hospital. Donation bins can be found in the main office and media center.
Students and Staff, Athletes & Coaches, Club Members & Sponsors…our DHS ‘Acts of Random Kindness’ Club is still collecting used eyeglasses, old cellphones, small dead batteries and CFL bulbs, along with empty inkjet printer cartridges and Campbell Soup product labels as part of our Fall Service Project. Please help spread the word to your family, friends, and neighbors, and try to collect these items to drop off in Mr. Dickie’s room #134 by Fri., Dec. 22. Be part of doing selfless acts for others. Thanks!
It’s that time of year again for the LEO’s canned food drive through December 19. We are collecting can food items through the first period classes!!!! At the end we will be giving the winning first period class with the most cans collected a pizza party.
So get out there and support our town!!!!
The SGA will be hosting a Casual, Sadie’s Winter dance on December 16th with throwback music from the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Tickets are $10 and are on sale by the auditorium and in Ms. V’s room, 231.
Ice Hockey plays tonight against Poolesville/Blake, 8:30pm at Skate Frederick. Free admission. Come cheer them on!
Montgomery College will be here today to work with students in terms of registering, students that got their M# already, how to sign up for classes, etc. This meeting will take place in the DHS career center during lunch today (11:10 to 12:00 p.m.) Please show up as soon as possible between 11:10 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

ACTIVITY BUS – The activity bus will run every Wednesday and Thursday (except on early release days) beginning September 13, 2017 through May, 2018. Pick up is in front of the school by the flagpole at 4:30.
