Instrumental Music

Over 250 students participate in the instrumental music program at CCES.  Students have opportunities to perform and demonstrate their learning at two concerts in the winter and spring.

Charles Bowling, Jr., Instrumental Music

I was born in Durham, North Carolina and moved to Falls Church, Virginia when I was seven. In high school, I participated in the Band, as well as the Football, Cross Country, and Track teams. I still hold several school records in track. After high school, I attended the University of Maryland where I was a member of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Clarinet Choir, and the Marching Band. My junior and senior years, I was chosen to be the Drum Major of the Marching Band. I graduated in 1983 with a B.S. in Music Education.  I began teaching at CCES in 1988 and also teach at North Chevy Chase Elementary School. I have also taught at Rock Creek Forest Elementary and Woodlin Elementary schools.  When not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children, watching sports (especially the Terps and Skins), and bowling (no joke)! Click here to check out Mr. Bowling's website for more information.

Daniella Krohn, Instrumental Music
I was born and raised in Rockville, MD and a graduate of Rockville High School in 2009. While at Rockville, I participated in band, marching band, pit orchestra as well as county honors band and MCYO.  I went on to pursue my Bachelors of Science in Music Education at Hofstra University (Roll Pride) in Hempstead, NY and was a member of the class of 2013. In my time there, I performed with the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, University Choir, Chorale, Musicum Colligeum, Percussion Ensemble, and Symphony Orchestra. In the fall of 2013, I was hired as a music teacher in MCPS and have taught at several schools and grade levels in my short teaching career. My father also happens to be a music teacher in the county and we both perform with two ensembles in the D.C. metro area, Maryland Band Director’s Band (Mr. Bowling too!) and Capital Wind Symphony. I’m happy to be here at Chevy Chase and can’t wait to get the year rolling.
