Fifth Grade Structures Project
Objectives:
- Students will use pre-selected websites in order to research a famous structure.
- Students will use Inspiration in order to brainstorm ideas for a brochure and create an outline.
- Students will create a brochure using Microsoft Publisher.
Essential Questions:
- What are some principles of good construction?
- Why do structures stand?
- What are the different purposes of structures?
- How is the strength of a structure determined by its materials and shape?
Job Description: You have just been hired by the Famous Structures Museum as a graphic designer. Your new boss has asked you to make a brochure for a famous structure that can be on hand at the museum for the visitors. Your boss has been very specific as to what information he wants in the brochure. You must include the following information:
- Name of structure
- Location of structure
- Date the structure was built
- Purpose of the structure (past and present)
- Materials used to construct the structure
- Engineers/Architects involved in the building process
- Structural design
- At least 4 pictures of the structure (must be from the pre-selected websites).
Your Task:
- Select a famous structure
- Use Inspiration to create an outline for the information you will include in your brochure.
- Use the information from your outline to create a brochure using Microsoft Publisher.
