Parent Guide to Special Education
Tracy Brooks, Special Education Teacher
Hi, I am a Resource Teacher here at Chevy
Chase Elementary. I am not a native to the area; I actually grew up in a
suburb of Philadelphia. In 1999 I moved to the area to attend the
University of Maryland in College Park where I received my degree
in special education and soon after became certified in general education as
well. I loved the area so much I decided to stay and now live in
Bethesda. In December 2010, I finished my Masters
Degree in Learning Disabilities at the University of Maryland. In my spare time I like to read, shop, go to the movies, watch football
(Go EAGLES!!), and eat out with friends. My favorite activity is taking
my dog, Donovan (McNabb), on long walks from Bethesda into DC.
Lauren Lette, Special Education Teacher
Hi! My name is
Lauren Lette and I am the Special Education teacher for grades 5 and 6. I
am originally from West Virginia where I attend West Virginia University to
receive my Bachelors and Masters degree in General Education as well as Special
Education. Prior to coming to Chevy Chase Elementary, I
taught 6th grade for 3 years and was also the Resource Teacher for Special
Education for four years at my prior school. In my spare time I enjoy
spending time with my family, friends and dogs (Kiwi and Daisy). I also
enjoy writing children’s books, traveling, cooking, going to WVU games and
camping.
Abby Locke, Special Education Teacher
Hi! My name is Abby Locke and I am the new Resource Teacher at Chevy Chase Elementary. I graduated from a two-year Master's program in Special Education at the University of Maryland. Before attending graduate school, I completed my undergraduate degree at St. Mary's College of Maryland where I played on the Varsity field hockey team. I am also a graduate of Montgomery County Public Schools. I went to Rosemary Hills Primary School, Bethesda Elementary, Westland Middle School and B-CC High School! For fun I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading on the beach, as well as taking long runs on the Crescent Trail. I am so excited to be back in Montgomery County and to be a part of the Chevy Chase Community!
