The Candlewood Media Center Mission Statement

The mission of the Candlewood Library Media Center is to instruct students in information literacy skills so that they can be effective users of ideas and information, and to foster a love of reading and literature.

Special Occasion Book Club
The Special Occasion Book Club is a new tradition here at Candlewood.  To celebrate a birthday, a holiday, a special achievement or to show teacher appreciation, you can donate a new book to the media center.  Click on the link above to access an electronic copy of the form.

Black-Eyed Susan Program
Black-Eyed Susan Book Award Program (BES).  BES is a children's choice award for the state of Maryland.  The BES Award honors outstanding picture books and chapter books – each year 15 picture books and 10 chapter books are nominated.  Students in the state of Maryland vote for the winning book in each category – that is what makes this Award program so exciting!  Click on the link above to access a list of the nominated books and other information about the program.
