Blake High School is located in a suburban community 15 miles north of Washington, D.C. and serves an income diverse community. The suburban population is a mixture of older established communities and areas with newer housing developments.
The Northeast Consortium
Blake High School is one of three high schools in the Northeast Consortium. Each school offers a comprehensive high school curriculum and a distinctive signature program focusing on particular areas of study. Students residing within the Northeast Consortium may select the high school they attend.
Blake High School is a public high school that serves approximately 1,600 students in grades 9-12. Blake offers a comprehensive academic program with a signature program in a variety of classes in visual arts, dance, music, theater, contemporary arts and humanities courses to students. The Honors Program
The honors program is designed to provide instructional challenges for academically talented and motivated students. The program consists of honors courses, advanced level courses, and Advanced Placement courses. Honors level courses are offered in English, World Languages, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Music. Advanced Placement courses are offered in twenty-two subject areas. In 2015, 540 students took Advanced Placement examinations, consisting of nearly 1,000 exams. 70% of the students who took exams received a national qualifying score of 3, 4 or 5.
