About The Music Department
The B-CC Music Department has earned 2 Grammy
Foundation awards and offers seven instrumental ensembles (Concert Choir, Advanced Choir, and Chamber Singers); Guitar, Piano, and IB music classes. Extracurricular activities include the pep band, drum line/percussion ensemble, pit orchestra and small quartets and combos. Nearly 500 students are enrolled in a music class each semester.
A reminder that all musicians must wear the concert attire. Females wear the required Lillian gown
and males may wear any comparable uniform to the poly-notch tuxedo . The Advanced and Concert Choirs also need the double strand choker necklace (ordered by Mrs. Itkin) and robes. The Music Boosters Community Closet still has some garments available. If you missed the sale and still need the required attire, contact MusicBoostersBCC@gmail.com to make an appointment for your child to try on outfits.

The Music Boosters Welcome Meeting will be held Tuesday, September 20, 7:00pm-8:00pm in the B-CC Chorus Room E006 on the lower level. There is no better way to get involved and to learn more about the many activities planned for the year, including the Citrus Fruit Sale, Community Closet (to save big bucks on the required Concert Dress & Tuxedos), concerts, October Overture Music Mixer & Fundraiser (Saturday, October 15), the Cabaret (Friday, February 10), and the ever-popular Spring Trip—going this year to New York, March 30-April 2. Music Boosters is seeking volunteers to help plan and execute these important Music Department events. This meeting provides the perfect opportunity to meet with the Music Teachers in a way that is not possible during Back-to-School Night. Contact MusicBoostersBCC@gmail.com to add an item to the agenda or just bring your questions. We hope to see you there—especially families new to the Music program!
The October Overture on the evening of Saturday, October 15 at the Edgemoor Club will be the perfect opportunity to mix with Music Department parents and teachers, to enjoy elegant refreshments, and be treated to performances from our talented music teachers and parents! Purchase your tickets now! Volunteering is the best way to get to know other music families and to get more involved with your student's music program. Contact MusicBoostersBCC@gmail.com with questions and to support this event.
Support the Music Department with your purchase of Navel Oranges, Tangelos, Red Grapefruits, and Apples that come direct from Florida! Profits from the sale go to the Spring Music competition Scholarship Fund. You can choose to have the fruit shipped or pick-up your order at B-CC when it is delivered the week before Thanksgiving. Order online by October 31.
