About The Music Department
The B-CC Music Department has earned 2 Grammy
Foundation awards and offers seven instrumental ensembles (Concert Choir, Advanced Choir, and Chamber Singers); Guitar, Piano, and IB music classes. Extracurricular activities include the pep band, drum line/percussion ensemble, pit orchestra and small quartets and combos. Nearly 350 students are enrolled in a music class each semester.
A reminder that all musicians must wear the concert attire. Females wear the required Lillian gown
and males may wear any comparable uniform to the poly-notch tuxedo . The Advanced and Concert Choirs also need the double strand choker necklace (ordered by Mrs. Itkin) and robes. The Music Boosters Community Closet still has some garments available. If you missed the sale and still need the required attire, contact MusicBoostersBCC@gmail.com to make an appointment for your child to try on outfits.

Music Boosters has been given a unique opportunity to provide the concessions and entertainment for the upcoming 16th Annual B-CC Used Book Sale, March 11-12. This year, the Café will be located in the school Main Lobby so we’re expecting to serve the most customers ever!
We'll be providing breakfast treats and coffee, pizza and midday snacks, and desserts for the book-lovers on Saturday, 10:00am-5:00pm & Sunday, 10:00am-3:00pm. Student musicians are asked to perform as this increases sales and donations! Musicians signup here.
Parents and students, we need a LOT of helping hands to make this happen so plan to sign-up to donate items (most items sell for $1 so please package accordingly for individual sale) and/or to help sell food at the Café. You don't need to have a child in the music program to support the wonderful B-CC Music Department!
Spring Music Trip to New York
We encourage all instrumental and choral ensemble students to participate in the Spring Music Trip to New York City to perform at an international music festival, Thursday, March 30 – Sunday, April 2, 2017. Forms and payment were due by December 22 to reserve a place on the trip.
The $695 cost per student includes chartered bus transportation, hotel (four students per room), festival performances, Friday night Broadway musical—Wicked, and the Saturday Awards Dinner Cruise around Manhattan Harbor.
See the trip letter, itinerary, and packing list. Credit card payments are made online at http://osp.osmsinc.com/MontgomeryMD and incur a 3.75% processing fee. Make checks payable to “B-CC High School Music Department” with your student's name on the check memo. Return the three forms with $695 Full Payment to Mr. White by December 22. A $50 Scholarship Donation may also be made online to support those who would otherwise be unable to participate in the trip. Contributions of any amount may be made by check or by contacting one of the Music Teachers.
If accommodations are needed in New York (for parents not chaperoning or students extending stays for college visits), please allow B-CC to receive credit for the reservation by booking through MusicBoostersBCC@gmail.com and to get you the hotel group rate (based on availability).
Start the year off right by supporting the B-CC Music Program. Online Donations are available (select B-CC High School Music Department) or use the offline form for check and cash donations. Request for Music Department Donations
