Scholarship Updates

Students are encouraged to check out the following scholarship opportunities available through their high school College and Career Centers. Additional scholarships and awards can be searched through several comprehensive online databases as well as through the Financial Aid Offices of the colleges and universities under consideration.

Most scholarships listed below are for seniors unless specifically noted.

Andrews Officers' Spouses' Club Scholarship  TBA Seniors who are dependents of active duty, retired, or deceased Air Force personel
Army Officers' Wives' Club of the Greater Washington Area (AOWCGWA)  3/31/12 Graduating seniors who are dependents of active duty, retired, or deceased army personnel.  Scholarships are awarded based on merit

B. Davis Scholarship   5/28/12 This Scholarship $1000 is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution 
Beat The Odds Scholarship    High school juniors who have overcome significant obstacles in their lives
Carson Scholars Fund 1/13/12 Grades 4-11; 3.75 GPA, monination
Delegate Roger Manno Scholarship  TBA The Delegate's Scholarships are earmarked for applicants with special needs. Must be at least a high school senior; applying to an undergraduate, graduate, professional or trade school in MD.  Call Patricia Brown at 301-610-0147, ext. 205 or see your CCIC for more information.
DOE / Hispanic College Fund  TBA Must attend Hispanic Youth Symposium. Call Lindsay Bernsten 800 644-4223 for info. or your College/Career Center.
Dr. Brenda Hammond Scholarship TBA African American female, MCPS senior graduating from MCPS and a graduate of William Tyler Page MS; exhibit excellence interest in math; maintain a 2.5 GPA; plans to attend a 4 college in the US.  Contact your College/Career Center for application and more information.

Esperanza Education Fund Scholarship  TBA Graduating senior; must have been born outside of the U.S. or have two parents born outside the U.S.; must enroll full-time at an accredited college or university.  $5,000 two-year and $10,000 four-year college scholarships.  Contact your College/Career center for more information

Kids' Chance of Maryland    Child of a working parent who has lost his/her life in workplace accidents or catastrophically injured.  Kids' Chance can help alleviate financial burden for college or trade school tuition.

Schiffman Scholarship  TBA Seniors who have an interest in pursuing a technical education program in college. See College/Career Center for application 
Sherry S. Hintz Scholarship TBA Student who has lost a parent/guardian to breast or ovarian cancer.  May receive up to $20,00 per for as many as four years of undergraduate education. At least a 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need, must be a high school student under 22 yrs. of age.  See College/Career Coordinator for more information
