Girls on the Run is Coming to
Wilson Wims Elementary School!
WHAT: Girls on the Run is a nationwide, nonprofit after-school program that combines training for a 5K running event with self-esteem enhancing and uplifting workouts.
WHY: The goal of Girls On the Run is to encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development for pre-teen girls.
WHO: This program is open to students in grades 3-5. Space is limited to 20 girls.
WHEN: The program will be on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning the week of September 23rd (Girls must be picked up from Wims at 4:40 - please make necessary arrangements for prompt pick-up.). There is a 5K fun run on Nov. 24th which families are encouraged to participate in with their daughters. There is a $30 fee for buddies (family and friends) to participate in the 5k. There is a reduced registration fee for teachers and families participating in FARMS.
COST: The regular fee for the program is $175, but financial scholarships are granted on a sliding scale based on FARMS registration and household income. Full scholarships are available to families experiencing financial hardship. The fee covers program costs, program t-shirt, water bottle and entry into the GOTR MOCO 5K.
HOW: Please visit this website to sign up your daughter. Registration opens at 9AM on Thursday, August 15th . Space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
